People know this delicate sport as a pastime of our ancestors and one depicted in an embroidered picture in our grandparents’ living room.
His guide drove him to a branch of Dolores Creek outside Telluride for his fly fishing adventure. The guide assured him he would reel in a fish, even though recent rains had swollen and muddied the waters. Then came the prize catch of the day: a heftier variety of trout known as a cutthroat. It had gobbled his hook and given him a taste of Colorado fly fishing. Grasping the slippery fish, He posed for the requisite photo before unhooking and releasing it, as is the etiquette for most fly fishing folks.
The prime season for fly-fishing in the Telluride Colorado area runs from July through October, though anglers can fish there year-round.
Telluride has a reputation as a well-regarded fly-fishing destination due to a system of rivers that have all the things that trout need to survive, including highly oxygenated water and plentiful insects.
